I'm looking for information about US aces in the European theatre of war. No, Brad Pitt is not among them
Any info about US tank, fighter and bomber aces would be useful and welcome.
For people who are interested. A Belgian webpage about the war museum in Bastogne:
http://www.bastognewarmuseum.be/home.html
Even today, the Belgian people are grateful for what the Americans did for our tiny nation

I think this was the U.S. most famous tank ace, though I could be wrong.

Tank heroes:
+1 for Lafayette G. Pool
From here, three more names
http://www.3ad.com/history/wwll/pool.pa ... rticle.htm:
Henry J. Earl
Shelton C. Picard (was assigned a Pershing tank later on, might be interesting)
Cliff L. Elliott
Albin Irzyk
Quite famous is
Creighton Abrams:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creighton_ ... rld_War_II
His troops were in a famous action where outnumbered US tankers stopped the German advance in de Ardennes: the Battle of Singling.
http://www.history.army.mil/books/wwii/ ... ngling.htm
From this link, it seems sergeant
Robert Fitzgerald's tank destroyed several Panthers (his account starts at chapter 202 of the link above)
Fighter aces: (I assume Europe only, so no Bong or McGuire, who only fought in the Pacific)
Here is a comprehensive list for all US fighter aces in the European theatre:
http://acepilots.com/usaaf_eto_aces.html
Gabby Gabreski
Robert Johnson
George Preddy
John Meyer
Raymond Littge
David Schilling
Bomber aces:
Difficult, but I've found a list of bomber gunner aces (all theatres):
http://jpgleize.perso.neuf.fr/aces/ww2usgun.htm
Bomber pilots:
Paul Tibbets (also flew the Enola Gay but was very active in Europe)
B-17 pilots who were awarded the Medal of Honor (mostly posthumously...

)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_B17 ... nor_awards
B-24: Lt. Col
Leon Vance
B-26: Capt.
Darrell Lindsey
And lastly, he is not a tanker or aero ace, but infantryman
Audie Murphy deserves a mention.
