Very slow animations in Steam

Is this behavior normal? While I played without Steam animations where lightning fast. Now it takes like 5-10 seconds before firing animations finish.
Steam version has a different sound library... maybe you have a conflict between the new audio library and your audio system.
You can also try installing the game in a different folder than the default one C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam.....
Try instead, for example, C:\Games\Steam\....
