Any chance for an assault sound effect?

This is really a fairly minor complaint, but I can't be the only one thinking it very strange in an otherwise fairly professional full price game that an assault is being depicted by a moment of silence accompanying no visual effect followed by usually a considerable "downtrend" in the remaining strength of the attacked unit.
I'd mod this myself, but I haven't been able to locate a sound hook for assaults, neither am I really sure how to add sound effects to the game. Somebody had more luck than me?

Assault effect will be added to the game.
However, if you are not sure how to change game effects, feel free to ask me directly.

Cool Rudankort, thanks for the announcement.
As for changing the game effects, I haven't been able to locate a file where these are actually defined / linked to a wav file.
Somewhat ironically, the only reference to sounds I've been able to find (other than the wav files themselves) is not in the audio but in the graphics directory, where the file efx.whdat references audio files in the sound file and movement sound columns. However, most of the names referenced do not actually exist as sound files (for example 2B_SL_VEH_LRG_MOVE_B), and I've not been able to locate the file that tells the game what wav file this sound effect should use.
I tried the reverse approach looking for files referencing "manticore_missile.wav", with or without extension, but to no avail.
So, if somebody can point out the obvious to me, thanks in advance.

All combat related effects are configured in Graphics/attack.whdat file. efx is obsolete and is not used by the game.
attack file has 3 big sections: weapon effects, impacts and units.
Weapon effects table references graphics files and sound file (9th column). They also reference the right associated impact (last column)
Impact table references audio files for impacts: 4th and 5th column
Units reference the right weapon effects (last column), for each weapon slot individually. Since assault weapons take weapon slot just as all other weapons, this is where assault effects can be tied to units.
All sound files in these tables are without extensions.

Ahhh. Thank you very much for taking the time to spell these things out rudankort. Much appreciated.
I wonder why neither windows file search (which sucks anyway) nor SearchMyFiles, a specific file search program I use for more complicated searches and more reliable results, managed to find that stuff in attack.whdat.
Very strange. Maybe file encoding related?
Anyway, thanks again Alex.

Same problem with Hive defense guns. No audio, no animation.

Assault noise would be good. An Orky "Waargh!" or a "For the Emperor!" might be appropriate. I only have 1 assault unit in the army and it keeps getting totally wiped out!
