Tutorial - first thoughts

I'm starting with the tutorial. I have gotten to the part where some spearmen leave the inn to check out reported problems. They reach the spot they are supposed to go, and then a wizard? appears behind them. You are supposed to cast a spell on the spearmen and then end the turn. The next turn the hellhounds wipe them out. From the prompts, this apparently isn't supposed to happen. I can still win this battle. During the next part, you are given cavalry to support a priest. I moved the cavalry to their locations, but it is hard to see exactly where. I suppose if I used the overhead view, I could tell. Anyway, I click end turn and it hangs. Perhaps the cavalry are at the wrong spot? The location arrow is still there....

Hi,
bought this wonderful wargame at the weekend and played the tutorial and first missions.
To your problem(s): normally, the game shows you an arrow where to move your units and you can turn the camera, if you can´t recognize exactly the spot. It should be no problem to move the cavalry there and with the flanking system explained in this tutorial, the enemy will be no match.
The casting from the wizard isn´t that easy though. I wrongly cast the spell on the wizard itself but it was no problem to win the scenario anyway.
Hope you enjoy the campaign - i played the first missions on the most difficult setting - and yea, it´s really hard.....

We'll look at this issue, on which turn does it hang? (The turn counter is shown in the top left!)

Well, I am always looking for a good turned based game. I've probably been playing these before some of the devs were born. Being retired now, you'd think I'd have more time... Anyway, this one looks good. The hang situation only happened I think because I moved the cav to the wrong spot. On a replay, I moved past this to the priest scenario. I just thought it was significant that the wizard cast a spell on the spearman and they were wiped the next turn. The tutorial proceeded on then on the premise that I still had the unit. I moved the wizard back and got the hounds from long range.
I'm just trying to help out by pointing out this happening in your tutorial, and has happened to me every time.. That could confusing for a new player.

yes it does assume you do as your told in the tutorial tbh, as you should be following orders, if you go your own way, like in the game for an example, you tend to die very quickly

OK, I didn't follow orders with the cav placement in the priest scenario, which is why I am guessing it hung. I didn't lose... I did follow orders with the wizard/spearmen scenario, but lost the spearmen anyway. They were enhanced by the wizard. Can't remember the name of the spell. I didn't lose that scenario either, just the spearmen. The wizard won by dealing damage from afar...
