Vague mission objectives and unit descriptions trouble.

Hello.

I am currently playing Act1 in the campaign.
I have arrived at a mission where the objective is "Destroy all Ork AUXILIARY artillery units. Scenario Hint: Look for these artillery units near Victory Hex Locations"
So I go to all the Victory Hex Locations (Managed this one lucky time) and there is nothing out of the ordinary, other than a new Ork artillery unit I have not seen before.
It seems logical these are the units I am supposed to kill. So I killed all these new artillery pieces and got the victory hexes and I lost.

So am I supposed to kill all the units on the map? If so, it seems a bit harsh when a group of shooterboys will take one of my leemanrus tanks down from 5 to 2 strenght.
Also you are given 5 of a new special unit. Bombers. It is very vaguely explained in a campaign cutscene what they can do. They can blow up something, and I retrieve the mission so many times, that I have no idea what they said in the cutscene other than they are supposed to blow up something, somehow.
Also, depending on your luck, often 2-3 of these bombers will die in the first turn.
The bombers are also very slow and very vulnerable. The turn limit will most likely run out before you get them around safely.

I have seen vauge mission descriptions in past missions, and I kept playing them until I stumpled upon the victory trigger.
But this time, I have played this mission over and over so many times, anyone got some tips and tricks, I would appreciate it greatly.

Edit:

I had a plan to do a big flanking maneuver to the lower right side, but even though the map teased me with that idea, it did not allow it.

In this mission, you are looking for specially marked Ork units. They look like this:

Okay thanks, so my assumption was right. But I did not get the victory trigger when I killed all the Special Marking artillery pieces.
I will try and give it a couple of tries more : )

Also, the special Bombers unit you get, what is the purpose of those? Vehicles move so much faster than the Bombers, and shoots the special artillery guns just fine, or is it that you only trigger the victory condition if you kill the artillery with the Bombers?

We actually extended the mission duration for this scenario during BETA testing, because there are indeed a lot of these artillery units to find on this map. The one I always tend to miss is in the middle factory area on the far right edge of the map, make sure you check there!

As for the bomber units, they were never really given proper equipment for the job the lore has them listed to perform. Making them kamikaze/suicide units though was actually expressly forbidden for us to do by Games Workshop!

That said, I'll need to add a 'bomb' weapon to them to give them a proper assault action with a good punch. They'll still be weak and vulnerable, but this should make them strong enough to instantly destroy these siege units in a single engagement if they ever get the chance to do so! I'll see if I can't fix this alongside other reported issues in a future patch. :)

Could someone please explain what these symbols mean?

Ahh I see, the Bombers are supposed to be suicide bombers, that is neat.
I finally managed to beat this mission.
I love that the game on normal setting have some difficulty.

To beat this mission, avoid go going north, but instead go into the opening that is above the bridge at the very bottom. And forget about the Bomber units, run them around in the trenches and let the Orcs spend turns on them instead of your main force. If you manage to blow of an artillery piece before you have killed it's defenders, retreat to the next artillery piece and leave the defenders be.

If you hower the mouse over the icons, you get some sort of description.

The assault one means, that this unit can assault. To do an assault, the assault unit need to be adjacent to the enemy unit. Once the assault unit have used its ranged weapons(if it have ranged weapons) and the enemy have shot back, you will see that the enemy have lost units and you have lost units. Now your assault unit will automatically assault (without any sound or animation) and you will for a second time see the enemy take loses.

The leadership thing means that, your units have a colored number(morale). Eg. Lemanrus is 5 strenght and to begin with, it will be a white 5. when the leemanrus have been in battle the white color can deteriorate to Yellow, orange and red.
If you put a unit that have lost morale ajacent to a leadership unit, and you end the turn, that unit will regain some morale.

Not only can you hover over those icons, if you LEFT CLICK them, you will get an even more detailed text description of them! This also extends to clicking other icons, such as the 'heart' and 'shield' icons to bring up screens that look like...

So, the special markings that differentiate the objective units from regular units is that the red horizontal lines around the units strength are about one millimeter longer?

This seems rather vague. Unless that is what you were going for with the scenario design, vague objectives that you have to almost guess to find.

We improved unique strength plates quite a bit near the end of the BETA and for 1.01. The Imperial units who have these special plates are especially vibrant. Just check out Mannheim's special Titan in the Obediance to Orders or Yarrick's plate during the internal hiveset mission! :D

Cool. Thank you, Kerensky. I haven't gotten very far yet, but I will be on the lookout for these special units!

Thank you but those things I already knew. I mean all the other icons.
