Hey there,

am just playing the scenario Lodz in the Grand Campaign and spotted the General Krutzeb together with a few trains and lots of units...Do I get any bonus by trying to take him and his guys out?

As far as I know, the enemy heroes in East are just for a bit of colour and variety but no extra prestige or bonuses. I know the experience system takes account of your experience level and relative unit cost, but I'm not sure if it accounts for enemy experience level. If you can force a unit to surrender while it's overstrength (that's overstrength AFTER your final attack, which is very difficult to achieve for normal units) you do get extra prestige. It's very hard to achieve and if you focussed on this you'd probably cause yourself other problems.

In some of the West scenarios there are actual hero units (eg artillery with +1 range or the Polish Infantry in one of the Cassino scenarios). The unit strength plates for these show a spot to mark the hero so you should be able to spot them.

It would be possible to edit the scenario so that killing a specific named hero unit (or type of unit) gets you extra prestige or triggers some other action, but this could be a bit too much of a challenge if you aren't currently into modding.

There is no bonus for attacking those units. The only benefits would be unit experience and maybe some prestige if you can make units surrender. The force up there is big and strong and its better to leave them alone.

Thanks guys - was a nice flavor though especially with the counter attack of that general being the next scenario ;-) Love these details Slitherine puts in its games...
