Attrition Points

Just a quick question regarding attrition points, as described on page 74. I couldn't seem to find anything in the forum.

Armies lose APs for each unit that is broken, destroyed, abandoned or left the table.

My question is - is that a one time point lost for each unit, or can a unit lose multiple AP each time it changes status?

So, if a small unit breaks and then is destroyed from failing its CT roll let's say, does the army lose two points or four? What if a small cavalry unit breaks, then rallies (and becomes spent), then breaks and then is finally destroyed? Is that a total of 2 + .5 + 2 + 2 =6.5 points lost, or just 2? Or 2.5?

Thanks!
Tony

Basically you calculate the state of your army at the beginning of each recovery phase.
You only count the state of each unit at that point.
The difference between broken and destroyed is that a broken unit has a chance to rally, a destroyed unit is immediately gone forever.

And progressive losses are not cumulative - a small unit can only ever be worth two, a large unit three....no more.
So a small spent cav unit is a 0.5 point lost. If that unit later breaks it is 2 points lost (not 2.5). If that unit then rallies, it is back to 0.5 points lost.

This means that rallying units is a very good thing, especially near the end of a battle.
That may sound obvious, but denying your opponent those few points means you have the chance to maybe salvage something from a bad situation.
