Love Skirmish!! - Minor Enh. Request

I am retired and I play skirmish against the AI again and again. Absolutely love it.

Would like to be able to save a mix of skirmish settings. As it is now, I begin each skirmish by configuring my settings, which requires 151 left clicks per skirmish.

Not a big deal, but it would be handy. An alternative would be to have the previous skirmish settings always come up by default, even if BA2 has been closed and/or the PC has been rebooted.

LOVE SKIRMISH MODE AND ABSOLUTELY LOVE BA2!

In addition to ushosp request I'd like to see sliders for various terrain features: forest, mud, marsh, etc. I know we have the 'openness' setting but I'd like to see more control over individual terrain features, especially mud and marsh. It would also be nice to see a wilderness map have a small village. Absolutely love the skirmish mode but lets make the map creation routine more flexible so we can play on more interesting maps.

The map creation code is very complex, so adding those kinds of things would be quite tricky! That said, I will look at whether we can further open up the scripting to allow users to modify the algorithms.

The game does a great job on random maps for the most part. It's a shame that some skirmish maps will not see the light of day again. Is there any way to extract a random map from a skirmish file for use in a reusable scenario?

Unfortunately we looked at the feature but couldn't come up with a way to make it user friendly. Note that the editor supports the same plugin as used in skirmish mode, so you can generate any number of random maps and save/modify them as you like.

I didn't know about random maps in the editor. Thanks for the tip.

Having now played BA2 for some time I am listing some of the problems encountered.

1. Somewhere in the bits and pieces of scattered documentation in the forums it says one "can select a specific campaign for the scenario". How? I cannot find a way.

2. What is "symmetric" scenario type? All option headers should show a short explanation when clicked.

3. Why are rivers possible for urban maps only? It should not be too hard to place a bridge or ford on a tile where river and road intersect. Engineers should be able to build and destroy bridges.

4. Enhanced i.e. realistic functionality of engineers/sappers should be standard for all campaigns, not an unofficial patch.

5. All BA1 campaigns and troops should be automatically available for BA2.

Re my previous message. I found out how to use the campaigns in skirmish. Here is, however, another complaint. Skirmish over farmlands fills the bloody map with hedges that cannot be penetrated even by a tank. I think non-penetrable hedges is a major bug an should be fixed. Besides, hedges belong to Normandy, not to Russian steppes.

Bear in mind that the maps in BA are abstracted. The hedges are a simple shorthand for impassible terrain. This is by design.
