Need better ways to end game!

When playing two player cooperative, we've had more than one occasion where one player's forces are eliminated but the other player is still playing. But the game requires that both players take their turns to continue, so the poor guy that has zero units still needs to log in and take his non-turn turn in order to let his buddy finish the game.
When one player in a cooperative game has his last unit eliminated, either the game should automatically switch to a single player mode, or the eliminated player should have a button/option to quit so he doesn't have to keep taking turns without having to surrender the game (which we assume ends it for both players, though I admit we've been afraid to try this option because the other guy wants to keep playing.
Also, if we pass on the first chance to end the game after all main objectives have been met, in order to finish the secondary objectives, then we are bound in to finish all the turns even if we only needed one or two more to finish all the objectives.
There should be a button to allow you to end the game after all objectives have been achieved rather than making you wait all the way to the end of the last turn. It can becoming boring for both players to just have to take a no -turn turn just to advance the turn count.
