An attack up the centre is doomed, you'll be shot to pieces.
Think extreme flanks and forcing the AI to break up that nice defensive formation. If the enemy is prepared for an attack from one direction, attack them from another. Concentrate your force where their's is weakest. With any luck by the time the AI gets its guns turned round and the central regiments to where they can do something useful it'll pretty much all be over.
Has worked for me a couple of times anyway, though it still needs quite a bit of luck. Probably easier to work out the manouvers at a lower difficulty level first.
