First Crusade - Suppliers in the UK?

Hi Guys,

I have decided to go for a first crusader force (who can resist all those knights??) and thought I would start to build a force so when the book is out I will be some where close to having a force, thus reducing the delay to the gaming table.

Now, I was wondering if some of you can recommend some suppliers in the UK for the required miniatures?

I have already found Black Hat, and am interested in their early crusade army deal, but I like to mix miniatures for a bit of variety.

So, what other companies in the UK do rather nice EC miniatures that are worth a look??

Many thanks in advance

I've always been a fan of gripping beast's stuff. So if you're looking for 28mm check them out here: http://www.grippingbeast.com/shop.php?CatID=16

Sorry, I should have mentioned 15mm. D'oh. I do like the Gripping Beast stuff however, but 28mm is too big. shame.

Outpost look to do some rather nice stuff. I think they will be used to mix in with the bits from Black Hat and what ever I pick up from Triples this month.

Cheers.

Hello,

I have a mixture of Essex Miniatures, Blackhat-Gladiator, Outpost and Blackhat-Blackhat in my Islamic armies of The Crusades. The Essex and Gladiator figures mix very well, the odd Gladiator horse perhaps looks a bit small when next to an Essex one but I think they work fine (same size as Mirliton too, though their figures are not suitable for early Crusades). Some of the Outpost guys look a little big (mainly the foot figures), but I think they work if you only mix in a few or use them to build groups on their own. The Blackhat's own figures are too large, they may describe them as 18mm though and they were from their Napolionic range. I have a single Egyptian Fellahin with Sword leading my Mutatawwia mob, he must be six foot six and looks like he would give Tancred a fair fight. There are also a couple of camel riders from Chariot Miniatures mixed in somewhere, they match well for size. I don't know if any of their Saxon Levy or Peasants would be suitable for Pilgrim hoards, they are nice figures.

Having said all that, I have just dug out 3 packs of figures from the will-life-be-long-enough box of unpainted lead here.

Gladiator FE32 Peasants with bows and slings
Essex MID26 Assorted light bowmen bare heads
Outpost CC5 Religious fanatics - unarmoured foot (3 variants with hand weapons/spear)

They mix together perfectly.

Sorry, I've just read the title of this thread again. If you want to buy Mirliton figures in the Uk, I bought mine from here;

www.vexillia.ltd.uk

You could use their C16 Peasants - with various weapons (I do like a lot of variety amongst my Peasants), and maybe the fighting friars. They are beautiful figures.

Essex Miniatures are here; www.essexminiatures.co.uk

and Chariot Miniatures here; www.magistermilitum.com
