Wessex Wargamers at Winchester, Hampshire, are please to announce their inaugral FOG AM tournament, VENTA BELGARUM to be held by the club.

VENTA BELGARUM 2015 will be held at Badger Farm Community Centre in Winchester on the Saturday 28th February and Sunday 1st March 2015. Entry is £15.

It will be a FOG AM Version 2, OPEN Tournament , with 800 points on a 60 by 40 inch tables (like Britcon).

We are particularly keen to encourage players who may not have played in many tournaments to take part or indeed any overseas players wishing to enjoy the ancient capitol of King Alfreds Wessex.

Situated just off the M3 at Winchester, the venue has a BAR , with a Starbucks and Sainsbury next door. There is sufficient parking for an armoured division and is free. The nearest airport is fifteen minutes away at Southampton and you can proceed to winchester easily from there by train or taxi - again let us know if you are coming and we will do our best to collect from the train or airport.

If you are travelling by train please let David know as we are happy to arrange pickups on the Saturday etc. It is planned to reserve a restaurant for the Saturday evening next to the Cathedral.

Can we please have these cheques sent to arrive not later than 7th February please. We have 20 slots for the tournament and we have 8 taken already. Plenty of space for you to come and try your hand in what should be a friendly tournament.

We are using version 2 FOG AM.

When you sign up can you email Alan and I so we know its on its way - also let us know if you want a place at a possible group dinner on the Saturday night.

Good to hear. I need a straw poll of how many others are up for a sit down dinner - but I should be able to get us a decent meal!

Just an update on the meal I have reserved at La Place - a French restaurant in the cathedral close. At present I have reserved for 10 but this can be upped if you let me know. If I get decent numbers confirmed I will try and get a discount / deal.

Les Entrees: all 6.95 - Moules Marineres, Fondant De Vollaile au fromage Bleu, Esgargots, smoked Trout & crayfish, baked camembert & leek puff pastry tart avec rocket, Salade de canard (pulled duck leg)

Plats Bistro: the below are £9.95

Steak Hache, Chicken Ceaser salad, Pasta & goats cheese, Smoked Haddock and egg rissotto, Escalope of chicken marinated in lemon, thyme, garlic and olive oil, served with mash.

Les Plats de a la carte : all £16.50: Ham hock with mash, breast of chicken ballotine, Slow roasted lamb shank, fillet of cod avec mussels & risotto, plats vegetarian.

steaks: Bavette de Boeuf, pan roasted bavette steak, rustic chips & salad (17.50)
Entrecote garnie (35 day dry aged with fries, mushrooms etc (22.00) filet de bouef (fillet steak, with mushroom and blue cheese pie, dauphinoise and port jus. (27.50)

Deserts are all 5.95

I hope the above is fine and makes a change from the compuLsory indian!
