Commanders routing?

On page 110 it says that a commander who tries to rally a broken BG does not have to rout with them. This suggests that there are other tests that can cause the commander to rout. Yet I can't find anything about commanders and routs other then that however, maybe I missed it?

The rules are clear on the direct risk to a commander fighting in the front rank. It's also specified what a commander in a victorious BG can or can't do. However I can't find anything about what happens to a commander with a BG that breaks due to a failed cohesion test, autobreaks or is destroyed.
(In the destroyed case I could see the has to move or is lost rule applying... maybe.)

Thanks,

Ghaznavid

A commander who is with a BG that breaks must rout with them for their initial rout move. Unfortunately, I do not have my rule book with me here at work (it would be too conspicuous  ) so I cannot give you a page reference for that.

Not sure about the other, related, questions you posed.

Thanks, found the passage. So the only somewhat unclear point is if the BG the commander is with gets destroyed completely.
(Although I find it a little odd that a commander that fought in the front rank can simply leave after a initial route move if the BG broke. But ok, you can beat everything to death with to much detail.)

Its covered on p 49/50 under Movement of Commanders - last bullet. If the BG is destroyed & removed the commander is left behind. If in contact with enemy at that time, or the enemy subsequently moves into it or shoots it, it immediately joins a friendly unit within reach. If no friendly unit, the commander is lost.

He's at risk during the initial rout (if the enemy stays in contact). He can then leave in the next turn.

And greater risk

Basically as an aide memoire is 12 to kill a general whose BG you didn't beat =x
11+ to kill one with BG you did beat = 3 X

Bothe above subject to doing at least 2 hits

10+ to kill a general routing with BG you are in pursuit contact with = 6X

Thereafter he runs away if still alive. He cannot leave combat until it is resolved so if you lose the BG he is commtted to a prusuit roll. Note that Autobreaks are done at the end of the JAP so they will rout first then get rmoved.
