Is there any chance cohesion tests (including modifiers) could be included in the detailed combat results?

Because units test cohesion each time they are shot at (for example) once the triggering threshold for a test is reached, they use the same random score for all tests for the same type of cause in a particular turn (or combat phase), because otherwise the chance of failing one of them would be much higher than intended. (If they took 3 tests, for example, and "re-rolled" the random score for each test, they would have 3 times the chance of failing one of them). Because they don't "re-roll", if they pass the first test, they can only fail the next test taken for the same reason in the same turn/phase if additional modifiers apply. This gets the effect we intend. (In the tabletop version, for example, only one cohesion test would be taken for shooting casualties during a turn, once all the shooting is completed for that turn.)

The design decision was not to show detailed cohesion test reports, because this would allow players to know for certain that one more modifier would tip a unit over the edge into failing. Which is more information than the player should have. It would allow them to pick shooting targets for units with the certain knowledge of whether this could or could not cause a cohesion drop.

For this reason it would be unfair even to have this as an option, because those using the option would have an unfair advantage in MP play.

Apart from piling on the pressure, there is nothing you can do to influence the result anyway. You have to make your decisions without knowing for certain whether further pressure will make the unit fail.

Mr. Scott

Thanks for the explaination, it makes senes to me. Truth be told, I was probably influenced by Fog Of War, where cohesion results were displayed. Again, really enjoying the game!
