Cham Spearmen

I have a Cham army for DBM that I never got around to paining. In DBA I believe that Cham spearmen are mounted 4 to a base & classified as Aux. In FOG would this be medium foot or mob? My guess is that they would be something like Medium Foot, Light Spear, Protected, Average, Undrilled. Would this be a fair classification pending the publication of an official Cham list in some (distant) future supplement?

medium foot, and the rest sounds about right. They may be swordsmen as well.

I am afraid I cannot give you an official view on this classification as we haven't started on a Cham list yet.

I'll give you an unofficial view though - if the Khmer reliefs are anything to go by Swordsmen will not be an option.

Of course that would depend on the Cham being similar enough to the Khmer - and my memory being good

if u have that cham army from outpost umust have plenty of javelinmens some uncovered with small shield, some covered with leather jacket and small shield and covered with jacket and long shield. will they be unprotected/protected/armored?

when shall we expect some official arrival of such an army? RBS said once 2009, will it be early 2009? or end of?

It would be nice to be alble to construct list troop options based on the available castings by manufacturers but that is not realistic.
Companies are expected to produce masters based on cited works. I can remember back in the 1970s and 1980s when a new popular set of Ancient rules would be released, sometimes exiting troop type castings would not reflect the troop types given in the new rules. So a similar thing may happen now but it will not be a frequent of an issue as it was decades ago.
Weapon and armor types are less specific and the variety of existing sculpts are far greater than they were.

Oops, I need to get off the soap box but this is a question that normally gets asked of me at conventions. the chicken or the egg came first type of question.

As other stated, based on the specific question of the old four to a base mounted adn classificed as Auxila. This would be a drilled Medium Foot classification. Whether that is adopted for the Cham as a troop type will be discussed by the design team.
