Each time I have played an non open battle, I found the attacquers easiest to play.

Just finish one other battle. It was an open one. But my oponent receive a flanck march. Not one or 2 units but 5 cav and one tercio!!!!!

I believe that a flank march can happen occasionally at random even in an open battle - either side can get it. I have been on the receiving end of just 1 so far on 20+ open battle multi-player games - 6 units that arrived just at the right time for my opponent and really did for one of my flanks
