Patch said it was successful, but it lied

No, I'm not a Steam person
I looked at
viewtopic.php?f=311&t=53213
that gave the same error message.

I just noticed that error message shows BA2-EAP.exe. You need to uninstall the EAP version. You should have received an email with a special link to download the release version. You can't patch the EAP version with the 1.01 patch.

Well done, I'd forgotten about changing versions - I was trying to update the game on my "travelling" laptop. I have a release copy to hand, soon be up and running.
