Why no Swedish/swine-feathers for D&G Later Germans?

Whilst researching the Bavarian army of the 1680-1700 period, I found two sources* which state that after pikemen were removed in 1686, and whilst the musketeers were still armed with plug bayonets, the infantry were equipped with swine-feathers (one of the books is about the Bavarian forces fighting in Piedmont/Savoy, so this was not merely for use on the Turkish front, as is suggested in the Austrian/Imperial lists). Each man carried an individual spear which, prior to action, was inserted into a wooden beam carried in the baggage wagons. The Brandenburg-Prussian, and Saxon-Polish armies all had similar arrangements, so this was not unique - yet none of these armies have these field defences available.

The two infantry regiments were equipped with swine-feathers and (wooden) bars/beams , which were in the regimental cart.

Tafel 7: Pikenier bis 1686 - Hinweis auf den Zeitpunkt der Abschaffung der Pike in bayrischen Infanterieregimentern sowie unter Punkt B) Schweinsfedern - waren damals Ersatz für Pikendefensive

Note on the date of the removal of the Pike in Bavarian infantry regiments, as well as in point B) swine-feathers were then substituted.

The advantages you can get by being able to read German when researching German armies :D

Feel free to use such in your games, its like the missing bayonets in the Austrian list of the period

Sad fact is that the Duty & Glory lists were some of the most rushed so there are inevitably mistakes that would have been avoided if more time had been available.

If this is correct, should it not be added to the Errata for when it is next updated?

Its certainly an option and easy to do as, IIRC, there is already a line for the Saxons to have them so it'd just amend that (we try and avoid adding new lines via errata unless it is an egregious omission/error).

Sorry, I missed that option - probably didn't look at it as it said "Saxony only".

Thank you for agreeing the addendum.

This is a mistake. You should pick a date once or twice a year to put an errata out. At worst it suggest you care, even when some of us know you better than that.
