Today we are happy to share with you that Pike & Shot, our upcoming turn-based strategy game focused on the Italian Wars, the Thirty Years War and the English Civil War, will be released on the 17th of October! In order to celebrate this joyous news, we will be playing Pike & Shot live on Twitch TV for you to watch.
Tomorrow at 20:00 CEST (14:00 EDT) we will be broadcasting a gaming session on Twitch TV displaying Pike & Shot. This will be the first time we will be playing a game live for you to see and we hope you will all be able to join us! During the stream we will be playing the game live, so you can all directly see how the game is played and how it feels.
For those of you with a Twitch account, the stream chat can be used to discuss the game amongst each other, or to directly ask us questions or provide feedback.
After the stream is over, we will make the video on demand available to you as well, so you will be able see the action even if you missed the live event.
In the age of Pike and Shot, mighty struggles erupted across Europe for causes religious, political or dynastic. The Thirty Years War raged across Germany and beyond, leaving devastation in its wake, but saw rapid developments in battlefield tactics. You can take command in the greatest historical battles of the war, fight stand-alone “what-if” scenarios, or design your own scenarios using the easy to use editor.
The Stream will start tomorrow at 20:00 CEST (14:00 EDT)and can be found
here.

We'll be releasing on our site first and then Steam soon after. We have no plans for a demo at the moment.

I suppose, I will be able to redeem the key on steam if I buy the game first here.

I must say I was sad when I read that as it's my favourite game of all time. However, you are entitled to your opinion.
I also recommend a demo be released, as games that have them seem to sell better than those without

A demo causes high and expensive internettraffic, thats what scares them off.
Please imagine you should purchase a car but ist forbidden to make a testdrive.
Selling a game without the demo is the same.

Micha, I can understand you. But in the case of P&S we have really good info about gameplay etc. - that may not replace a demo experience but it's more than we've got from other games. I'm going to buy this game and I'll report you about it.
BTW: Here's a new gameplay video from yesterday's live stream:

Demos take a vast amount of work that we feel is better invested in the game itself. Demos do not show the game off properly and the nature of the games we make mean you need to invest time in learning them which goes against the way people treat demos. Often people try demos for games of a genre they are never going to enjoy because they are free and their feedback confuses potential customers as obviously they don't like the game. The more complex the game the less appropriate a demo is. It is a complete fallacy that demos increase sales. As many demos are likely to reduce sales as increase them but it is not something anyone can ever prove as its impossible to test!
Sometimes it can make sense for a game but it is case by case and absolutely not a good idea for all games.

Fair enough. Why not play the Battle Academy demo then, seeing as both games run the same engine. (or is there no demo for that either, in which case

)

They are completely different games and there is nothing in common between the two so a demo of BA would tell you next to nothing about Pike & Shot other than possibly any tech compatibility issues.

Sorry, but from my standpoint not a single word you wrote here is true. For 20 years since People Play Pc Game a Demo is standard.
Gamemakers which sells millions of Gamecopys releases Demos . As your comments they wrong and you are rigth ?
Ok , for me the discussion is over, as i said i whish you the best for the game.
