GS 3.2

Ok so great game but my pet peeve is Norway. Oslo was taken quite quickly in the war, yet in the game it takes at least two and often three turns to take. I would say redraw the map to make Oslo more accessible. The other is Greece. It also fell quickly yet in the game it can be a real bitch unless you use naval and para landings.

Norway actually didn't surrender until June 10th 1940, 2 months after the attack started. That is 3 turns in game time.
You have several conquests in the game that that takes longer than in the real war. E. g. Case Yellow started on May 10th and France surrendered on June 22nd. In GS (and most other WW2 games) taking France is more of a grind. You start Case Yellow in February (or March) to achieve a June 22nd conquest. The real players won't repeat the mistake of the real Allies. Thus France will hold longer.
Greece was also taken quickly in the real war, but much harder in games. Operation Marita started April 6th 1940 and Greece surrendered April 30th. That is just 1 turn in GS game time. There is no way we can make the Axis move from the Yugoslavian border and capture Athens in just 1 turn with some Greek resistance. So the real conquest will take longer.
We will not redraw the map around Oslo. I live in Oslo and can tell for certain that the map is pretty accurate there. Oslo was captured by paratroopers landing on Fornebu airport and marching into Oslo unopposed. The main naval invasion force was stopped when the Oscarsborg fortress sunk the heavy Cruiser Blücher and forced the remaining invasion force to stop. The soldiers meant to capture Oslo didn't arrive as intended. Quite a few died on board Blücher and others escaped alive to the shores of the Oslofjord. Having the Oslo port south of Oslo itself in GS simulates the Oscarsborg fortress. So invaders will have to land a bit south of Oslo.
Any skilled GS player can take Oslo in 2 turns if they want to. Land in fair weather and the Norwegians can't rail any units to the south of Oslo. The 2 step Norwegian garrison can only be repaired up to 5 steps. 2 German corps units + tac bomber support should be enough to finish off that garrison and force a Norwegian surrender.
In the real Weserübüng the Germans landed in Narvik, Trondheim, Bergen, Stavanger, Egersund, Kristiansand and Oslo. So the real war invasion was much bigger than you have to do in GS. Oslo fell early, but the Norwegians withdrew up into the valleys and fought on from there. The Allies launched a counter attack by landing in Åndalsnes and Namsos trying to cut off Trondheim. In Narvik the Allies drove the Germans out of the city, but when Case Yellow started the French and British very evacuated to help fighting on the continent. The Norwegians alone couldn't prevent Germany from recovering and retaking the city.
GS is just a game and you will have some simplifications compared to the real war battles. The main thing is that the game is fun to play and the battles aren't too ahistorical.

I'm posting here because I don't know which section is good.
If other change will be made to the game, I would say that the Swedish and Spanish mine cannot be occupied by the allied player without declaring war to Sweden or Spain. I can't believe that if a paratrooper or a mech occupy the mines, the governments of those Nation just sit and watch; it seems impossible to me, at least with Franco in Spain. At least, I think the Germany have to receive a couple of corp representing "volunteer" that will fight for Axis against the Nation that have occupied his own territory.

we have discussed this previously - its a pretty expensive exercise for the allies

mmmh..occupy Portugal requires only 2 garr and a corp to deal with partisans, is 65 pp, not that much, with industry at 100 percent in 16 turn you have all the pp back, and the German must maintain some troops at Spanish border in the case the Allied player invades Spain. I'm not convinced, but I accept the decision.

first you have to take it and this doesn't give you the mine - think you are talking cross purposes

Taking Portugal is not that difficult. The mine is the mine at Spanish/Portugal border, that everyone occupies after Portugal surrend, so it's free.
Which are those cross purpose? I'm pretty frank usually.

we have talked about the mines - swedish one is expensive to get at and although portugual/spain is a bit cheesy it still takes effort to take Portugal, I agree its easy to hold but I have never taken
lisbon easily

They've perfected it as much as they can, I do agree though and I think the Oslo garrison should have a value of 5 or something but still; the one thing I wish they would change is, like in the vanilla game include an option to go past 1945...

The Oslo garrison starts at 2 steps if you invade Denmark and Norway on the same turn.

Ahh right, normally i conquer Denmark and then DOW; i didnt realize that thanks. How come the game ends in May 1945, in the vanilla there was an option to go past that date.
