When is this roll done? Immediately after the combat? If so then the cohesion roll is a minus 2 if both the general was killed and lost a combat. (two reasons for a cohesion test). Also if another BG within 3MU losses a combat is this minus 2 or can you resolve the loss of combat first and then the general later?

See Appendix 8 - full turn sequence. It is after Cohesion tests and death rolls. Seeing a commander die will be tested at the same time as for seeing friends break from those earlier rolls or autobreaks. The rules deal fully with two test reasons and not re-rolling in certain circumstances etc.
