Iv just purchased BA2 and have BA1 too. Like very much both games!. But... why BA2 havent been translated into Spanish like BA1??

Will be translated into spanish like their predecessor??

Hi guys

in the past we used agencies for translation and we found the quality was variable and often very poor. In the last year we've been moving to a partner system where we have 1 preferred partner for each language who understands our games and does a much better job of translating them.

So far we have a good partner for German and have just started with a new partner for French. We have not found a partner for Spanish or Italian but are in negotiations with a Russian partner.

If we find a reliable cost effective way to translate to Spanish at good quality then we'll revisit it but we've been struggling to find the right partner.

Maybe some details or terms of translation into Russian? I asked on Steam chats and received a response which is not planned at all translations into Russian, as the first part of the game translated fans...

We can open in spanish in puntadelanza.net a post to look for translators and make a group to distribute. In puntadelanza.net we have members ( the biggest spanish wargamer community on Web) with a good level of English and we can create a group of translators familiar with this type of game, if not a lot of work to do.

If you guys want to have a go at translation then we can definitely support it. To allow you to begin trying, you will need to do the following:

add your language to the CORE/LANG.TXT file. E.g. [SPA]

then, for each TEXT1.TXT (or TEXT2, etc) file in the game you could copy the file, and rename it to TEXT1_SPA.TXT (etc). Copying the original will both give you all the contents and keep the file in the correct format. Note that the IDS_ identifiers should not be changed. Also note that you cannot use the " symbol inside a string as it is a delimiter.

Once you do that and start translating you should be able to see your changes.

For Russian it may be more tricky as I am not sure whether the fonts we are currently using include Cyrilic characters.

We going to translate the Campaings .txt files from english to spanish.

¿Have we to translate anothers .txt files (i. e. editor, UI .txt files too? ¿ Which ones?

If you search through the game folder for text*.txt you'll find all the games text files. From memory there are some in campaigns, some in multiplayer, some in the editor plugins, and the main game text in data\text.

If you are interested we have a pack ready for the translators so pm me and we can send you the translation package.
