Bug/Annoyance - Gemini Manned Docking Penalty

Hi Guys,

Just blew a Docking Mission because the Docking Hardware failed to get to Orbit and was Hammered
on the Prestige! Why! Did the Range Controller Press the Destruct Button on the Capsule Accidentally?

No Astronauts were killed and the rest of the Mission Terminated instead of letting the Astronauts
do EVA or whatever.

I think this is a Bug because if Docking Hardware fails then the rest of the Mission should be run as
a Science Mission as it was done historically.

Cheers!

Hello Andrew,

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, I see what you mean. It's working as intended, so I can confirm it's not a bug. I agree it might be an annoyance, but being able to provide such flexibility will require lots of structural changes in the code and the mission scripts so, for the moment, we'll add it to the wishlist for expansions/sequels :)

Cheers,

Hi Guys,

Well I will admit that Gus Grissom almost drowned when his suit filled with water when they were trying to save Liberty Bell
but I still think being hammered so hard is harsh when nobody actually died.

Maybe you could look at a modifier to the code overall and just adjust a Catastrophic failure if nobody dies, ie along the lines of

if (catastrophic == 1)
if (died == 0)
Penalty = Penalty * 0.25
else
Ouch

That would mean that I would have to research maybe a season to recover not at least a year.

I also posted a similar failure when my Agena failed to reach orbit which is a catastrophic Docking Failure (Technically)
but again nobody died.

While I can live with it, it is very frustrating. :(

Cheers!
