Arrived this night after 1300km driving but It Worth the travel :)
Congratulations to Don, Jim and Simon :)
Best venue ever, good event but maybe a world competition require an umpire (we had noone in FOGR).
Lots of bayonets but won a 30YW, lots of armies based on infantry regiment, few mounted, no one outside Europe.
I hope to see you in Derby next october :)
Matteo

Great weekend, great venue, enjoyed all the games, and Simon did start talking to me again after he got third and realised I had done enough against Matteo to get him that.

Matteo - It was Ben (not Don although I am sure he would be happy to accept it in absentia), Jim and Simon, and we did have an Australian from Australia Ian Poade with the English Civil War Royalist, as opposed to our pet convict from Australian (Simon).

seconded to all of that!

I also managed to lose to all 4 of the 4 players who finished immediately above me... so the rankings clearly don't lie!

From 5th to 11th there are 6 players in less than 10 points, It was a balanced competition (with BenDon alone far away)

Great Weekend!
Congratiulations to all the winners.
Thanks to all my opponents for helping me out with the rules and for being very friendly.
I had loads of fun and learnt a lot about the rules, so coming in as 15th doesn't matter :D

Hope that next years event will be hosted by Martin and co again.

Repeating all the thanks and congratulations above.

Also a big thank you to the traders who supported the event, but seem not to have had too busy a time (bit too soon after Britcon for me to be shelling out more dosh, sorry)

Congratulations to the winners Ben, Jim, and Simon; and thanks to Frederic, Ben, Tim, Matteo, Juergen, and Ian, for 6 super games played in great spirit in my first major FoG-R tournament. I hope I wasn't too slow!

The venue was perfect, particularly the light-level, aircon, and good coffee which contrasts with most UK venues! And to have the tables, room, car, restaurant and the Rhine all within 100 metres - what more could one ask?

Learned a lot of things along the way too. Having played the DBMM circuit for the last 7 yrs one thing that FoG-R has particularly struck me as being similar is that it's not the 6's that win you the game but the 1's that lose it - average troops in CC without a commander can get ugly! FoG-R gives you the opportunity to mitigate the 1's though in some instances.

Looking forward to the next event and painting more troops!

Mike

Simon, throwing 1's and 2's for death rolls and cohesion tests worked in your favour. Who knows what our score would have been if I had not rolled so many.
I want a re-match!!!!

Thank you to Martin and all his helpers, the traders and my opponents especially those who allowed me to beat them.

I got back late Wednesday evening. Had fun going through security where both I and my army set off the alarms. Mine can easily be explained as I have a replacement hips so lots of metal but the army!!!

So both me and the army had to be personally check over, I enjoyed tell the young security chap how they do a hip replacement especially as you not put under rather you have a local.

Bob

I did roll quite a few ones in that game didn't I?

I do remember quite a few Kurrassiers being carried out of our game.
