Sorry, but this couldn't be meant serious. I need for some reasons the ability to switch to desktop to do other tasks from time to time while playing.
I really really really HATE games that crash on Alt+Tab (or deny access to the desktop) ... please fix this.

Hi Wintermute - which publisher version do you have (which country did you buy it in) & which language are you playing in? Alt Tab works fine for all the machines we have tested it on so it must be some weird compatibility issue.

Bought it in Germany and i play it in german language.
But strange enough: i have to apologize .. the error is gone?! I tried it again in this very moment to deliver the exact (though useless) error message windows throws. But this time all went fine.
I guess it really must've been some very very strange issue.
Oh, btw: The german voiceacting is really awfull. His intonation is quite bad and he uses (thankfully seldom) some bad spelling on words. (German isn't german all the times. There are dialetcs, but every good publication would use "Hochdeutsch" ("High German" -> clean dialectfree german) as voice out of the off. Your voiceactor seems to speak some kind of dialect in his usual life. Altough he tried to do his best it isn't quite professional.)
It isn't THAT bad, but not professional if you get what i mean. I also found a minor spelling bug on screen right at the first start of the game (the caching of grpahics data) but this is really a very minor issue
However, can't say much about the game yet. But first impression is a good one

well .. now i got the error again right after i bought a troop.
The command at "0x4fdf725b" points at memory at "0x03467540". The write command couldn't get executed. (roughly translated)
Well .. i know .. this doesn't help you, but i don't have any debugger or such installed and my debugging knowledge is very limited anyhow

Oh, is there a commandline argument or such to play in windowed mode? this would suit me

Workaround found: I switched the game resolution to match my desktop resolution (1600x1200x32) now everything is fine and i'm happy

If you're playing on a TFT screen there can be issues with resolutions that are not native to it. The game attempts to run through the resolutions and find one that fits you, but its possible that the check is not working for all configurations. In general its best to play at the resolution of your TFT screen.

No, i use/own a 22" CRT connected by a standard 15pin SUB-D connector (not BNC, so i DDC is in use)
The issue was related to the mode switching (1024x768x16 -> 1600x1200x32 .. i thought i had used 1280x1024x32 also, but the game never saved that setting as it crashed shortly after that, so no experience for now. pls forgive me when i'm not in the mood to check that NOW

i'm currently enjoying the game, i report back later the day or tomorrow)

Can you tell us who you bought it from? The shops are not allowed to sell until Friday this week. We need to find out so we can let our publisher know someone has released early.
