Complicated (for me) evade option

OK you have a line of legionary battle groups oppossed to them is a similar length line of pikemen. We will say the gap between is about 4MU. In between the two is a BG of skirmishers belonging to the Pikeman's army, happily shooting at the legions.

Legions turn, Impact phase. If they charge the Skirmishers they will evade. I guess that would deffinitely put them behind the pike. I think they are allowed to evade through pike without disrupting anyone?

Would the legions stop before the pike, hit the pike or roll a test?

All the roman BG's would presumably have rolled a variable movement test so some might not go fast enough to hit the pike whilst some would? The Roman would of course prefer all of his men to hit the pikes together to avoid nasty overlaps etc.....

How would this example work out for real? Does it make much difference how far behind the skirmishers the Pikemen were??

If all the legionaries charge each legionaries BG would make a VMD test. As a result the line will probably end up jaggerd as the different BG move different distances. Some may contact the pike (if they roll a 5 or 6 for VMD).

There are a couple of options here:

1) You could charge with 1 BG of legionaries to clear the skirmishers away. Then during normal move, the rest of the battle line moves forward. Obviously, if the charging legionary BG contacts the pikes it's on its own for a bit which isn't great. Your remaining BGs will need to take a CMT not to charge.

2) You could just stand there (although your legionaries will have to take CMTs not to charge). The skirmishers will also prevent the pike from charging (as you can't voluntarily charge through your own troops, even if they are only skirmisher).

Decisions, decisions.... :)

You could of course also charge with your own skimishers to clear away your opponents nasty skirmishers.

One of the things skirmishers are good at is disrupting enemy plans and formations.
