My native resolution is 1900x1200 I would post a screen shot if I knew how to take one in game?

It looks to me that I should be able to zoom in more, one reason is that I changed a battleship_2_100.png (largest) but it did not show up in game and the vanilla file was still used which is rather odd since it was renamed.

One explanation is that the larger .png file may be for a closer zoom.

I also modded the map textures and during the winter change over the textures disappear and the map looks white the strange thing is that I am zoomed in much closer to the map however the units are in positions for a map zoomed out much further, a simply reload fixes the problem.

Anyhow I think there is something wrong with my zoom.

And is there anyway to change my user name I am not as Confusedesh as a was.

Ignore the counter figured out there was another file anyhow this is a screen shot in windowed mode (my textures) is that the closest zoom?

Yes, I also run 1900x1080 and it's pretty much useless, as you cannot zoom in.

Only solution is to tone down the resolution significantly.

5 year reported problem (since CEAW), which nobody bothered fixing.

Yes the more I played with the graphics the more I realised that is the level of zoom , I have adjusted my resolution.

Not only would I not go blind from squinting you could create interesting graphical modifications.,which you still can but of a much higher quality.

The same is true here. My native resolution is 1920x1080 and I was surprised not to be allowed to zoom in more. The only solution is to play it with 1600x900; even then the units and icons and fonts could be a little bit larger (it is a laptop, not a big desktop screen).
