Hi all

Epectantly awaiting delivery of rules.
Looking for the fun after years of being jaded post 6th Ed
Thanks for picking romans, greeks and saracens for the early lists.
Any thoughts on when the Dark Ages Lists will be on offer?

I'd expect them next year if I were you - of course if they were earlier you'd be pleasantly surprised :D

Just joined, still waiting for my rules in the mail.

I am also a big dark ages fan, and eagerly await some rules for Dark Ages mass battle.

I've just gotten the rules and first two army books and am very impressed with them. I'm eagerly anticipating the Dark Ages Lists - it's one of my favorite periods.

Some of the lists in the swords and scimitars book will probably interest you. Early crusader is going to be quite similar to some dark age armies. Not exact but a head up that might be fun to play while waiting.

I have tested out a rough view of a Norman army and quite fancy myself as William the COnqueror now :)

Whilst I appreciate that the army list writers can only write so many lists at a time and it may be good business practice anyway to deliver new lists over a time period rather than all at once, I am nevertheless naturally disappointed that the lists for my favourite period won't be out for at least another year. In view of that I will have to go with writing my own for now but would like to get them as accurate as my limited knowledge will allow. Can anyone please help me out with the folowing points (which I hope haven't been covered before). My questions refer to a Norman army of the 1066 period:

1. Will Norman knights be treated as Lancers or Light spears (or will there be an option)? I assume they will be swordsmen?

2. Will archers and crossbowmen be MF or LF or will it be possibly to have BG's of both?

3. Will Bretons be treated as armoured/protected cavalry with light spear?

I hope someone can help without giving to much away and I appreciate that things may change between now
and the lists being published.

Thanks

I'd suggest:

1. Lancers

2. Mostly MF but a few LF

3. Yes until they adopt French tactics (debatable date).

But probably they would have done so by the date of Hastings.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot on my original question to ask about infantry spearmen. I intend to class them as HF, Protected, Average, Undrilled, Offensive spearmen. Would that be appropriate please?

thanks again

I've been reading through the rules again and would now amend my spearmen to 'Defensive'.
