Despite several attempts, finally got an established connection but the right-most pane stays darkened.

Or, could it be that the new patch is needed? Check for updates, we are at version 1.01 now.

I think there's a problem if both players have the patch with Matrix version trying to connect with Steam version and/or vice versa.
