Mini FoGs

I am holding Mist 1, a 400 point mini-Fog 15mm tournament in April here in the US and was wondering what people thought would be the appropriate guidelines to use when working on 400 point armies.

My basic plan is as follows

1) Halving general's point costs. maximum of 1 non TC commander.

2) Halving all minima & maxima, except that units must still be able to field 4 strong mounted and 6 strong foot BGs.

3) Using a 48" x 30" cloth and all terrain to be maximum 10" circle size. No double terrain pieces allowed.

My other thought is, is 400 points big enough to get a decent army out of ? I was planning on using the Rome book, as medieval armies would be 3 or 4 units a side at 400 points with all those costly knights roaming around.

Basically the idea is to have 3 rounds of 2 hours each, and introduce the rules to players, have fun and avoid honey-do lists !

Any input more than welcome

Cheers

Does that make it "Parcel of Glory", or "Allotment of Glory"? :)

At 400 points it should in theory be about 48" deep and 36" wide, so reducing it to 30" wide should have only a minor effect.

If you halve the cost of generals then you will see armies with at a much higher proportion of generals to BGs than normal. With you limit of 1 non-TC I would expect to see most armies with 1 IC + 3 TCs. I suggest a cost of 35/45/70, and a maximum of 3 generals, and only one non-TC.

I would halve min and max, with the following exceptions
Troups that can't normally be mixed in a single BG can be mixed. In such mixing you only get, and pay for, capabilities all troups have, and you use the lowest armour, quality, and training, present.
The BG size must be permitted for all troups present in the BG.
You can mix in troups from one Ally, you don't have to buy the ally general if you have met the minimum by mixing in. The BG does not count as an Ally BG unless, the AG was bought, and the BG contains more Allied troups than non-allied or there are no entirely allied BGs for that ally. Troups from an ally must be mixed into the minimum number of BGs.

If the MAX is insuffient to allow one minimum size BG of core troups, and you can't make up the numbers by mixing in troups that are at least as good - then you can field EITHER
A single BG with 2 bases less than maximum - but must still have 4+ bases, OR
A single minimum size BG.
