Elephants,in two words f****** useless. In three of my games yesterday, elephants played a starring role.I played the same opponent in two separate games, where he had three of elephants in each game, they lasted 3 turns at the most,in each game, all of them.I used one myself against a different opponent,to cover my left flank with some cavalry.I laughed as my opponent charged one heavy unit at it,and then laughed as the elephant fragmented after one hit.Two turns later, all that was left of the elephant was a huge pile of dung after it routed despite being at 93%.I'd have been better with the dung watching my flank, and it wouldn't have cost as much.

In conclusion,Elephants- bloody great for your roses.Absolutely f****** useless on a battle field.Dumbo, more like Bimbo.Actually Bambi would put up a better fight from what i've seen of these units.

I have mixed feelings about the way FOG represents war elephants.
But one thing I'm certain of, is that I'm very glad I don't have to fight one on a battlefield.

I just recently read that its not uncommon for a large male's trunk to weigh 400 lbs, and when he slaps you with it,
there's alot of force behind it. Human beings just go flying - ten feet or more.

One of the best illustrations I've seen of the power of an elephant, put into terms a modern mind can relate to, is
this video (note that no humans or elephants are harmed in it). The relevant part starts at the 55 second point.
