Well, now that some of the soviet rocket mission bugs have been fixed, I decided to go on with my original plan of "American spaceships on Soviet rockets".
To sum it up:
1) I faced some early issues with the mercury. Nothing catastrophic, but it delayed the program and this had a lasting effect on my whole manned spaceship timeing down the line.
2) Due to strong Soviet rockets, I was able to do all the work with the RA-7 Vostok rocket before the actual moon mission. For the Moon mission I had to bring the UR-700.
3) The soviet rockets btw worked flawlessly, not one real problem. One or two countdown failures, but that was it and this relaly had no impact on the outcome of my programs.
4) Gemini, once set in motion worked flawless. Because of the Mercury delay, I decided to go for a gemini direct ascent. I simply had too little manned research capacity available given the time Mercury issues took.
5) This time around I managed to set up a really good mission control team, so I wasn't afraid of launching more simple missions at 80 or 81% reliability.
In the end I managed to launch a successful manned lunar landing in the first quarter of 1969. Gemini direct ascent of course.
Overall I had a blast (no pun intended). The game works very well now, I just found a few minor bugs that I reported to Asana.
I think the game is relaly coming out great, at this point I think we should concentrate on getting more variants of the existing missions and maybe a few alternative ahistorical options. More variety means more replayability.
