Flank Charge Question

The rules say that for a flank charge to be legal, the charging battle group must start with at least one base entirely behind the front of edge of the enemy battle group. Does this mean that the entire depth of a base must be behind that edge? Or just the entire front of the base? I read it as the entire depth of the base, but that would mean that cavalry bases, for example, would need to be farther behind the front edge of the enemy in order to flank charge than light foot, medium foot, or heavy foot. Sounds fine to me, but just wanted to check if that was the intent.

The whole of a base so the depth as well as the width. Cavalry are far better at it than infantry because they move faster and are more maneuverable

Note also that it need not be a front rank base - it usually will be but it can happen that a subsequent rank base will qualify - but it does have to be the whole of the base.

When you get your rules copy you may be able to spot why I make this point 8)
