Cataphract and skirmishers

Tonight while playing I had a line of light infantry skirmishers directly in front of my cataphract . A discussion occurred regarding this.

The one side of the argument said According to page 49 (?) My cataphract would be unable to interpenetrate the light infantry because they are not one of the listed troops . It specifically mentioned cavalry but doesn't say cataphract specifically. The rules are generally very good about spelling out everything.
The other side says but the description on page 136 (?) calls cataphract (I think) ancient cavalry or maybe heavily armored cavalry. If you read further down , it says camelry act as cataphract if armored , or cavalry if not?

I don't have the books in front of me to quote verbatim , but I think the question is per the rules are the guys riding on horses cavalry .

No. He is mounted, but not cavalry.

Page 14 spells out the different troop types.

Cataphracts are 'mounted' but they are not cavalry.

So your opponent was correct - the cataphracts can not go through LF - but LF can go through cataphracts.

Camelry are cavalry, unless they are catphracts
