Please forgive what is in effect a double-post. I posted the content of this in the patch announcement and later saw this section. Feel free to delete whichever you feel is less pertinent.

Here is what I am getting (as copied from the other post):

I get this at the point where the update is downloaded and it switches to "Preparing Update."

"Standard Exception thrown:

Process.cpp:70:proxy::core::Process::Process(const std::vector<std::basic_string<char> >&, const proxy::core::Process::context&): Error: Could not start" ../Temp/Binaries/PandoraUpdater.exe: %1 is not a valid Win32 application.

Pandora Updater has encountered a problem and needs to close. Please contact support with game logs and save games."

Thank you!

But the same error appears, exactly as shown in the first post, word for word.

I will attach again the error log in case anything changed.

EDIT: had also restarted

Hi:

Well, the error popup no longer occurs. The updater window pops up and I can just make out that the latest files are downloaded (probably zips by so fast because they are already downloaded). There appears to be no problem with the download.

However, although the error popup is gone (thank you), the updater vanishes without installing the downloaded update.

My Logs folder does not contain an error log, though it did produce an Update log. I will attach it in case you want to see it.

Restarting the patcher runs the Update window again showing there is the 1.3 Update to download. Does the same thing, vanishes after the download % reaches 100.

Do you have any antivirus or firewall software running?

Yes. Disabling it produces the same result.

The Updater doesn't even get to the "Installing" part where the error occurred before. Just vanishes after the download reaches 100%

What antivirus are you using?

What happens if you go inside Temp/Binaries/ and start one of the executables in there?

Avast is what I am using. had no problems Updating before even with Avast running. But shut off the Updater still won't run.

As for the Temp/Binaries, just tried that and got this

This application has failed to start because Normaliz.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Can i find that dll somewhere and would that be the reason for this?

Hmm. I see. This could be a broader issue on my system. Looked up missing Normalize.dll and found it could be a number of things.

Well, I have restored Windows to a time 2 days after a fresh install.
Made sure I had every conceivable .NET Framework update possible and all updates to XP-64.
Reinstalled Pandora a couple of times at various stages.
Chkdsk \f found one file that was not the missing Normaliz.dll

Nothing has worked. I get the 1.3 to download but when it hits 100% then goes to Preparing... it vanishes. If I use the Temp/Binaries Updater, it gives me the missing dll error.

My last resort here is to do a Windows Repair files from disk, but the last time I did that, it destroyed my OS and I had to reinstall Windows. Worked one other time. I really hesitate to go there.

Is there anything on your end that replaces that Normaliz.dll? The tech site I went to warned not to try downloading one but rather reinstalling the application that failed because of it. My other programs run fine, both on and offline.

In case anything in the logs changed, I cleared the logs, ran, and copied the latest:

It will take me some time. I went the last resort and repaired Windows using the Windows disk. Fried the OS.

Bought Windows 8.1. So far, it is the most horrible Windows experience I have ever had, and that's going back to DOS. I will update this as soon as I can even get Windows updated for a Pandora install.

Thank you, though!

Oh. That's unfortunate. It wasn't your fault.

It was fixable on our end or by installing an official Windows package for XP. The .dll normally comes only with Windows Vista and above, but Pandora shouldn't really need it anyway. It got dragged in when we updated the middleware for the 1.3.0 update.

Sorry you had to go through that. I would definitely recommend Windows 7 over 8, however.

Ah well, it is done already. Had been getting a lot of errors and with XP being discontinued I figured the time was right.

Only Windows 8 was offered, anywhere I went. What a horrid installation. Steam won't run on it. And neither does Pandora. Will make a new thread with logs.
