Often presented as a spiritual successor of Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri, Pandora: First Contact had a burdensome legacy to deal with for its release few months ago. But its conquering spirit successfully captivated both 4X fans and press specialists.
Today the colony-ships are establishing the contact with an exciting new world: Steam! Developers from Proxy Studios have prepared appropriate technologies for properly exploring this new environment: pre-order program, free update and 80 achievements have been created especially for this occasion. Surviving on the hostile surface of Pandora was already a challenge but that was a piece of cake in comparison with completing this long list of achievements!
You can now pre-order the game on Steam at a discounted price. We are also pleased to announce that we are going to offer a free Steam key to anyone who has a copy of the game, wherever they bought it from, once the game is available on this digital platform!
Get more information on Pandora: First Contact from its official
Steam product page.

That is totally awesome! Thank you!!
I'm hoping this release means more revenue to do more work on the game (especially the map generation hint hint).

This is really nice. Thank you, Steam makes it a bit easier to keep games up to date.

Do you plan to keep providing the game by your own means?
If there is an extension coming, I hope it won't be a Steam exclusive.
Bah, I'm quite confident on this

You can be sure that you will always be able to buy directly from us - in fact we obviously prefer not having to give Steam their cut!
Cheers

Does it cost you money if we use our free steam key?

A quick question...

Does this also mean
whenever they bought it?

Wherever and whenever. If you have a valid game key, you'll be able to get a Steam key.

So I'm a HUGE dork, I saw this on steam, and bought it immediately (i've been waiting on baited breath for Civ beyond earth, but the fall release date is SO far away) and was ready to chew my fingernails down to the nubs wile I waited two weeks for pandora to come out on steam. Then I watched the video on steam and it said "out now on slitherine"... And I was like... Wait... I can has now? Now is better than not now! And then I saw that you guys are giving away free steam keys for buying the game on your website. What I'm HOPING is to give the steam key from this purchase on Slitherine to a friend.
Two questions,
1) If I download and play the game now from your website, can I still give the steam key to my friend and then play with him/her on MY other copy I bought directly from steam.
2) Do we have to apply for a steam key? Or enter in our Slithering license key anywhere to get my steam key? Or will I get an email from you all with my steam key when it goes live on steam in two weeks...
Thank you kindly for your time! Cheers!

Where are the achievements? How can we see them?
How to have the free updates? AFAIK they have to be asked by email to Slitherine, but Slitherine is giving the 1.0 game, not the update... Asking via an email is not so free.. Ageod is less boring: we can really update, and without needing an email (they let free links on their forum) nor steam.
Or Slitherine is becoming a Steam puppet, like so many others?

The only time you would need to send an email is if you need to reinstall the game and you have not backed up an installer. Updates can be grabbed in various ways at any time, via the game itself if memory serves.
No idea what a "Steam Puppet' looks like - you can still get the game directly from us (in fact we prefer it obviously!) - Steam is just another delivery medium.
Cheers
