I finished the tutorial and its a lot of fun.

The way how it is build, the "step by step" idea is well done and effective.

But the last part (conquering the hill) could be alittle too difficult for beginners..IMHO

I just tried to play the tutorial and it froze at the bridge defended by antitank gun and heavy machine gun. Allowed airstrikes but the tank would not move.

Happened to me the other day, it was because I "strayed from the path" and didn't trigger the derelict tank. Perhaps there should be a "follow orders" message for those who go off track.

I tried it again (till the bridge!) and had no problem. Everything worked. fyi..

Hi Pip...
Is this eastern front version ever going to be available in CD form?

Once the game ships it will be available in the normal way, including a physical copy.

I agree with pomakli that the conquering the hill part may be difficult for beginners. You may need to add more advice like the liberal use of artillery & mortar fire before trying to take the hill.

I think we agree somewhat that the current tutorial is a little too easily loose-able. Expect to see some tweaking in future drops :)

That's the difference between "native speakers" and "non-natives"....

Assuming the easy settings can be turned on, I don't think easing down the difficulty directly is helpful to the player's appreciation of the fight and game The enemy should be as tough as it happens to be - but a player who is not doing well can be scripted some reinforcements, or an artillery mission, etc., right?

I think we can keep each individual unit as tough, but the player perhaps doesn't need quite as much resistance :) Plus we can make the AI a little less aggressive etc.

A message that advises using a lot of the artillery & mortars prior to an assault should be enough for a new player to get an idea of what to do. The message can pop up as he approaches the hill area. I'm not sure how that can be done though.
