Silly question maybe, but why? I've always read lists as from
year to include the
year, and before
year to exclude the
year. Is this how you normally play, or is it an exception for the competition?

Well perhaps not all lists were carved with a clear standard as we like.
The captains who attempted to come up with balanced and fun periods in particular were concerned with Urartic. Letting them in or not was debated. Then it was observed that coincidentally the 12 LCH bases rule solves the problem. Because they can only get to 12 via an ally and they only get the ally in the time period that is not the armored superior bow cav. The captains felt that if you let in them with that best cavalry we would risk having every single team bring that list in the period. That was deemed undesirable. Then a captain pointed out someone could argue the date to cross the line of demarcation and circumvent the intent The solution was the clarifying point. In short we are forbidding the Urartic superior bow cav.

Clearly you need better glasses. It clearly can be read to reference 850 points....
now.
Next thing you will say, I didn't mention the scale...which
now you can clearly check I did.

Yup - it's looking to be the biggest ITC ever. Of course, allowing two teams has added numbers, but we are expecting (I think) eight represented nations - which is great news.

Err, no 2003 and 2004 both had 16 teams with representatives from 14 nations and the norm was 14/14.
But it's good to see the ITC captains committee being facilitative and trying new things to once again build-up the number of attendees.

Do you have any details about the time schedule, venue, etc.? I'm checking flight connections from Barcelona and considering flying on Saturday morning if possible...

The venue is in piazza randaccio
https://maps.google.it/maps?q=piazza+ra ... 16&iwloc=A
Some of us have booked the Hotel delle Vittorie nearby
http://www.hoteldellevittorie.com
There will be 2 games on Saturday and 2 games on Sunday. I don't think they have set the start time on Saturday yet but I guess it will not be before 9am, perhaps a little later?
Will there be a Spanish team of 4 players or are you the only one coming from Spain?

Any idea when will we finish on Sunday?
I'm checking flight connections in order to see if I can contribute to complete a Spanish team. AFAIK, there are two Spanish players confirmed for the moment...
