Noob comment - edge of world

As a relative newcomer to FoGR I've noticed (although happy to be corrected if I'm wrong) that it's possible for a BG (if less than 1 Base width in depth) to park its rear edge on a table edge to prevent being flank charged. Has anyone (ie those worthies who know the rules far better than I) given any thought how this can be overcome ? I would think this (rather nonsensical) situation should be a prime candidate for a rule amendment

cheers

Whilst this is theoretically possible, it's never been a problem in any game I've played. It would not be easy to achieve, and also the BG would effectively be out of the game.

I've got to agree. It is not a good thing to have a foot unit within 6" of it's own baseline - EVER. The fact that it could not successfully be flank charged would be small recompense for the minus for threatened flank on all CTs.

Oddly I have seen it used, in only the third or fourth game I've played in. My friend with a single mounted BG on his defensive flank held off 2 of his opponents mounted BG's by the simple expedient of retiring before them and then deploying in a single rank with his rear edge on his own sides rear baseline. It stalled the oppositions flank move very effectively - but I can't say I believe it is a realistic tactic.

"retiring in front of them" back to you own base edge isn't really going to do much to hold up the enemy advance, is it ... ?
