If I purchase add ons via ipad (ie afrika corps) will it be available automatically for my PC/mac versions? Or do I need to buy the on all clients?

The game and the addons are separate between the PC and the IPad so to have them available on both systems you need to buy them twice.

Seriously? What's the reasoning behind that. That puts me off buying them at all which is a shame.

We would do it if possible, but unfortunately Apple don't allow any kind of price or discount synch up between different platforms.

This is completely out of our control. Apple forbid any type of cross promotion and their system prevents it. The only way to get a game on an iPad is to buy it via iTunes. We have no way to know who has bought from Apple, they do not share that info and if we did try to set up a system to give you a PC version Apple would ban us so its not an option. You'll notice that none of the console and mobile platforms allow this type of thing.

Ok I get apple control that. But why isn't it possible for me to purchase the add ons via iTunes and then get a credit or proof of purchase that allows me to install them for pc/mac?
I would prefer to purchase and play via ipad but my friend is playing via PC and when I try and play multiplayer with him via ipad my ipad crashes. This is part of my dilemma.

Unfortunately this is banned by Apple as its seen as a way to "incentivize" the purchase. Any incentive to manipulate charts on iTunes will get you banned. Also we have no way to verify the proof of purchase as Apple don't give us any info on who bought the games so anyone could claim they had bought it and we would have no way to tell. That makes it impossible to do and if we worked out how to do it then we'd get banned by Apple
