Quick Gebirgsjäger question

I read somewhere that mountain troops like Gebirgsjäger or Alpini lose their special movement through rough terrain if they possess transports (trucks or halftracks). Is this true or do I mix things up?

True. Trucks don't climb. (and Charley Don't Surf.)

This can also apply to other infantry as well. If they have mechanized transport they can't traverse difficult terrain like Dense Forests at all.

Which is a good thing - safe places for your artillery are adjacent to dense forests

Occasionally the thick forests are a bit more passable than expected.
Once in India I forced a British HW unit (move 2) to retreat and it happily trotted into thick forest which should have been impassable. I've seen this more recently in another scenario - I'm pretty sure it was in France. Maybe the HW had a Robin Hood forest movement hero.

The same is true for the Sahariana or the Chevy-WB when they are infantry mode. It takes all their movement points to move out of the thick forest. They cannot move out of the thick forest if they are in vehicle mode.
