Which side is A in MP games

More and more frequently challenges in MP appear with the challenger's side being designated as "A"....
Why is this happening and which side is A (Axis ? Allies ?)

I too ponder at this. However, I am fine to take the chance not really knowing when I accept a challenge...... perhaps the A stands for ambiguous or maybe androgynous....
