The easiest way is to copy the content of equipment.pzeqp into Excel, or similar spreadsheet program, and edit stats there. When you are finished, you copy anything back from there into the equipment.pzeqp file.
If you got too much time to spare, you can start creating own reality-game conversion formulae in Excel too, so you can simply copy the result sheet later.
Oh, and best you make a backup of the whole game folder at first before you start to modify anything. You won't regret it.

Horst's idea is also how you add more units to the game:

Give them an ID (over 1600), name, supply, attack and defend value, graphic and timeframe and then test. I did this to add nearly 90 WWI units to the game!

for the "normal" GTPG-Capmaign you need no extra software, just copy the GTPG folder to your C:/..../mygames/PanzerCorps/mods - Folder (if "mods" does not exist exsit, create it).

The GME is a tool to switch between modded Panzercorps and original version easily. This is needed, if custom units, efx-files and so on are included (e.g. SS-GTPG). Be careful while using GME, its very usefull but careless use forces you to reinstall your Panzercorps. dont be afraid, i am using it from beginning of PanzerCorps and had no problems. :-)
