Rules question

In a game at our club on Sunday two questions arose.

1. Can a square receive or give flank support?
In our example, the square being assaulted by lancers was within flank support range of another, unengaged square. Would the unengaged square provide support to the engaged square? In the game we decided to disallow the support because the rules state that squares have no flank. However, that seems to be a rule designed to ensure that no one can claim to launch a flank attack on a square. Does the statement also invalidate flank support?

2. Does a limbered artillery battery count as a target in march column or deep formation, thus giving the firer a POA (p53)?
In our example, a Prussian battery advanced to within long range of a French heavy battery. While the battery was depicted as two guns moving side by side, I (the French player) argued that the battery should be counted as a deep formation because 12 to 19 guns (p88) plus caissons and battery vehicles would be strung out in column on the march. I seem to recall a statement by Lauriston to the effect that a well sited heavy battery could inflict severe damage on a limbered enemy battery as it advanced to deploy. In the end I didn't press the point, but the question is worth asking :)

There is a section specifically for rules questions.

Here's some about squares:

Limbered artillery is not in march column or deep formation. It does move double distance if following a road, like units in march column.

1. Can a square receive or give flank support?
as per previous post - Yes
2. Does a limbered artillery battery count as a target in march column or deep formation, thus giving the firer a POA (p53)?
Firing at Limbered artillery does not give you a POA - You hit it on a 5+ (instead of the 6+ if unlimbered at long range).
It does have a flank and rear.
