Stalingrad Docks question

Hi all... loving the game, but running into my first real problems in 1942.
I managed to take Stalingrad by storm despite requiring a lot of prestige to repair my beat up forces. Now I'm on the docks, and after meeting ridiculous resistance taking the last two objectives, I'm considering replaying the scenario and avoiding the last two objectives and just settling for a marginal victory.
Is that going to be punished later in the game? Or is a marginal victory effectively "good enough" and honorable to live to fight another day? Any help is appreciated!
ALSO: is there any use in fighting the Streets of Moscow battle earlier in the game? I got a decisive victory and had to abandon the city after getting kicked in the teeth pretty hard. I wound up going back and not playing the scenario and skipping straight to defeating the Winter Offensive.

The outcome of Stalingrad Docks is the same no matter the battle result. Hint: Consult the Campaign Tree under the Library section in the Main Menu. The prestige awarded is as follows: 1,750 for a Decisive Victory or Loss, and 1,250 for a Marginal Victory. Also try to capture hex 29,6 for a Recon BA-64 unit (good to disband it for prestige on the next scenario deploy phase).
During the Stalingrad Docks scenario you are awarded 50 prestige per turn, so it might be a good idea to stall a little and play the whole 22 turns. If you finish earlier you miss 50 prestige per turn you "saved".
After that scenario you will be given the option to either Escape from Stalingrad or stay in Stalingrad Ruins. I think you will be tired of those ruins by now so i suggest to choose Escape.

Damn, that's a good idea. I've got all these stolen units that have no experience and thus of little value to me, and I've never thought about disbanding them before. These are the kind of things I need to learn.
Is there a way to drop the fallshirmjaeger via plane? I assume so, but I don't know how. As of now, they are relatively useless to me because I can only use them as infantry.

When the Fallschirmjaeger is on the plane, select the unit then you will notice that some airborne symbols show up under it and maybe an adjacent hex too. Click on the airborne icon to make it drop. It will mostly land in that hex or randomly land on an adjacent one.
If you get it to any airfield after you can embark it again and drop it again and again.
Also during the deployment phase, you can choose to deploy the Falls in a plane or on foot by toggling the air/ground button.
And dont worry, i use them on foot most the time anyways as they are one of the best infantry units.

The BA64 can be worth keeping as it has relatively good ground defence for a recon.
Fortunately it is also cheap to reform when you find out that the armour isn't as good as you thought.

Wheeled type movement recon isnt as good as an All terrain type movement recon. Recon ground defense armour cant be trusted, you are going to get blown to pieces if you get in contact with enemy tanks. The best defense for a recon is to avoid the enemy by increased movement points afforded by an all terrain vehicle. Move 4-5 hexes and spot then use the rest to withdraw back.

The AI in its wisdom blesses me with endless spotting heroes so I rarely feel the need for recon unless I get them for free or there are lots of victory hexes to clean up. On the rare occasions I use a recon unit properly (AK), I prefer an 8 move All terrain unit so I can advance for a look around and then pull back as Antoniocapo very sensibly suggests.
Having said that, the BA64 is free and with GD 10 often takes two or sometimes three hits to destroy when it gets stranded in the wrong place. Since it looks ridiculous, has move 5 and I have a bad attitude to free recon, this is pretty much all the time. Maybe I should check the mods and get a bright yellow colour scheme for it and use a +1 core cheat so I can take it through to 45East! JS2 vs BA 64 - place your bets, please...

IS-2s aren't ever beaten with recon - I struggle to kill them with Tiger tanks!
- BNC

Forgot the part you attack it with the BA64, just after the bombers but before the free prestige.

XDopar, after the falschimjager are in plane mode, you can press the "deploy" button and it will allow you to paradrop them within 1-range of your planes location. This cannot be done after moving the plane. (Although I think you should be able to move and drop)

Maybe he has the paras with transport attached? I think there is no prompt in deployment phase to drop the transport.
