Wooded terrain and rear archer support

If a unit of bows has it's front rank in a wood but the second rank outside the wood, does the unit still get rear rank shooting support in the impact combat if being charged from the front. My view is not.
On a related but different topic, if a unit of light foot is in brush but has a corner of a base slightly outside the rear of the terrain, can the unit be shot at by a unit of the bows to it's front which is more than 4 inches away from the front of the light foot. In theory it can see a slight rear edge of the base outside the brush but the bases it can shoot at are outside visibility distance.

You adjudicate the impact based on the front base.

I believe if you see the wording it is something like "wholly in" If you are not 100% in, then it does not apply.

As Hazelbark said, since the front frank is in the woods, you only get to shoot with the front rank. No overhead allowed. Doesn't matter what terrain the rear ranks are in except for disorder.

A base cannot shoot at a base beyond visibility. LF bases wholly in brush cannot be seen beyond 4 MU. However a 2nd rank base with an edge/corner out of the brush could be an eligible target as per page 88, v2, if you can draw a line to that edge/corner from each front corner of the shooting base without either line passing through the blocking terrain (or friendly troops).

In this case the bases able to shoot were all beyond the 4 inches and the part of the base outside terrain was pretty much on the baseline as the round piece of terrain was touching my own rear table edge.

Anyone else got a view on whether you can shoot at a BG of LF which is within 6 inches but outside 4 inches of Bows in brush if part of a base of the LF is outwith the brush but more than 6 inches from the shooters?

You can't shoot the ones you can see because they are out of range.
You can't shoot the ones in Range because you can't see them.

That makes sense so it can't be right!

Had these issues to consider in a game with George a few months ago (so relevant experience available for Schiltron). Basically you can only shoot at or charge something you can see.

Shooting
An shooting base must be able to see and be in range of its target base. They cannot shoot at bases they cannot see, whatever the range.

Charging
A charging BG must be able to see its target - this can be any base of that BG. But it must be within charge reach of the bases it can see. So its possible to see one end of the target BG but only be within charge reach of hidden bases, and therefore not be able to charge. Ofcourse if within charge reach of the visible bases any step-forwards may cause contact with previously hidden bases.

That is certainly my understanding.

Seems very logical and clear to me and hopefully now to Hunter.
