Field fortifications queries

Thinking of trying to hide my Russians behind some dirt since the French have stolen every available horse in Europe for their cavalry attachments and my Russian infantry might as well be shooting spit balls for all the dice they are losing. Makes me want to go back to unreformed Austrians who can get more dice than the reformed Russians.....

So here are some questions I have:
Can a unit in a FF provide flank support dice for shooting if the enemy is in the support area?

Can a unit in a FF provide flank support in combat?

Arc for shooting out of a FF seems to be out both sides and front so about 180 degrees all around. Does this apply to all troops or just artillery?

If you have artillery in a FF and you have multiple enemies within 2 MU must you shoot at each one of them or can you just pick one and give it full dice? If you can just shoot at a single enemy can you freely choose them or is there a priority target, example enemy directly to your front as opposed to being in side arc.

Can Infantry choose a single target if multiple targets within 2 MU or do they have a priority target they must shoot at?

Considering the arc of fire from a FF, if the enemy charges an adjacent friend that is touching the base of the FF, the enemy would pass within 2 MU, can the troops within the FF shoot defensively at the charging enemy?

Thanks for your answers and hopefully I can tempt the French into actually moving close to them although Msr Blathergut is not likely willing to get too close to any mounds of dirt I put on the table.

ehehe...thought you'd appreciate the cavalry attachments

Be assured I will stay outside of medium range of those things. The amount of dice they shoot is silly. A wise use of 20-40 points!!

They just shoot the normal number of dice, the fact that they have an awesome arc is what makes them attractive and that artillery can target up to 3 enemy might be a nice touch. Be assured the Russian army will be floating about the FF's so you might have no choice but to venture to within 6 MU just to get at my infantry :P

And I thought that was you who had the first viewing after I had posted my query.

Another question I just thought of, reformed infantry, do they still shoot out to 6 Mu or just 2 MU?

they fire out of fortifications using the same rules as for firing from buildings.

Any thoughts on the original questions?

No - If an enemy unit is in the support area it MUST be within 2MU, and therefore would receive close range fire from a defending unit as normal.
Can a unit in a FF provide flank support in combat?
No. There isn't really a support area for units in a building or fortification. Realistically, the unit would not be venturing out to support their friends.

Treat infantry in an FF the same as firing out of a building, other than out of the rear.

Artillery can CHOOSE from the following options
> Fire with full dice at a single target
> Fire with 2/3 at 2 targets
> Fire with 1/2 dice at 3 targets
Select which option you want to use.

They shoot as normal if the charging enemy would pass within 2MU of them.

So if you are in a FF and have multiple enemies each at 2MU you can choose who wish to shoot at then?

Yes - You can choose to fire at 1, 2 or 3 different targets.

With infantry? Or does this only apply to artillery in FF?

Infantry would fire as if in buildings.
