Preferred Settings?

I started a new game with hard AI, the next-to-most-aggressive alien aggression factor, and zero tech-tree visibility. I'm loving it.

So just sharing. Any other settings you'd suggest to keep things fresh?

I'm a super big fan of the smallest maps, with 5 hardest AI's and most aggressive aliens. The biggest issue issue is that I'm pretty sure the hardest AI's get extra units free, because they can really quickly build a small army. On small maps you have to have the most aggresive aliens, or they dont show up at all.

If your up for a challenge try very aggressive, on huge pangea with 1-2 opponents only. Did try this once only but i was dead on second giants wave.

If you want an interesting challenge, pick up a medium pangea map, low alien setting. Play a peaceful faction (terra salvum, tora or the yellow faction) select only 3 AI opponents on very hard : Imperium, Solar dynasty and the reverend.

You will be in for a constant war for survival against the AI, definitively worth it. I only played it once and ended up being wiped by nuke despite wining a defensive war against the waves of enemy tank.

Something about pangea maps allows tons of hives (which is awesome). The biggest size planet makes it super intense. This was my most recent game. I had a blast, but the AI didn't do very well against the aliens. The unfortunate AI that spawned in the middle (not the coast, and thus surround by endless hives) only survived because I sent a very considerable amount of my army to defend him. Some other AI just flat out died. It was fun.
