Defense Heroes boost close defense?

Short and simple: Do heroes raising defense raise close defense as well? I am before the first Stalingrad scenario, have enough prestige to convert some tanks with high defense heroes to Pz III N (27.000 before replacements on General) and would simply like to know if it makes sense?

Thorsten

Hello ThorHa, hero bonuses get added to every relevant stat, so a +2 Defense hero will boost close defense with 2 points, just like the other defensive stats. Attack bonuses also get added to all attack stats, so a fighter with +3 attack hero will have +3 attack vs. ground (hard/soft) and naval targets as well.

Thank you very much, I actually suspected that. I alrady tested it before the answer and the SMG Infantry even refuses to attack against a Pz III N wothout artillery cover and without a defensive hero.
3 hurrahs! That will make the Stalingrad assault (I paused at turn 6) SO much easier.

Thorsten

Thats good to know, didnt know it was across the board, woot! See this is why if you have the unit stat screen up when you play, stats that go up should be in green so you can see it. As you would when you compare items to buy from the purchase units menu.

This makes heroes that more interesting.
I second that Anfield: have all hero boosted stats in green.
I would also like to have those hidden stats added: RoF for Arties etc. and % efficiency for strat bombers.
If I may dwell a little more on wishful thinking: make a pop-up apear if you hover 1s over a certain terrain type with terrain caps and this applied in th stats bar (f7) on the right in red.
And thx Ksasaki for the tip on kradschutzen, I always wanted to use them, now I know how
Edit: list of new stat to view is non exhaustive. Hopefully many people buy this om Steam so there is a budget for a new upgrade

ROF is not exclusive for art units. I think some other units use it like the Pz II Flamm.

yes, if there were green arrows to boosts not only for heroes but also for bonus stars, it would be tremendous! Please get this done, I'd even be willing to join the staff to help program it, voluntarily!

Good point about the experience, as experience changes stats differently depending on which type of unit.
I am used to play with the unit stats up but only know I realize how limited this is and that I should CTRL+ click to get a full idea untill I know all the stats and their buffs/caps by heart.
The battle forecast takes into account only so many factors that I start to understand why people want to reduce the randomness. For me this is no option, I'm used to table-top wargaming so I'm used to get freaky dice rolls, in my favor or against. The thing is that I lik to know what factors can influence the outcome so that I can improve my odds.

I'm ok with freaky dice rolls too, but it would be nice to know some hidden mechanics like what is the pioniere bonus on forts, and what bonuses do infantry get when fighting artillery head on, I understand anti tank also take an initiative penalty firing at enemy tanks...

I think you can see some of those if you look at the full combat prediction (i think its alt+click) or after combat report (L).

If you want a better knowledge about units and its abilities, then there is hardly a better way than taking a look at the Data\equipment.pzeqp file directly. Copy the content into a spreadsheet where you get an excellent overview of all unit stats, traits, allowed transports, etc.
Maybe there comes the day when you think you need to fix stats of certain historical units, then this file is the best start for your own game modification.
