Modding fun, US skirmish

More of a hack really as the EAP does not facilitate modding too much. I was looking at the skirmish mode and the fantastic map and random force generation. Wanted to know how reusable is it so I have added the US units to do some US vs Russia and US vs German battles.

Seems to work fine:

We're mulling whether to include all the original units etc. They aren't going to quite match the new style etc, as well as add to the install and download size for all the assets, but we do realise that some people will want to make use of the assets in their own mods and it could save having to have them in lots of user campaigns.

Thoughts?! :)

Cheers

I think it should be added! Maybe your first DLC will be a WW3 Scenario!

I would include it at least for modders, so we can easily convert original BA mods and give us more elements to play with. I think it is also a chance to include a lot of assets with "little" effort that could add value to the game. I was also playing with ideas on historic alternatives, trying hard to come with a believable scenario in which Russia fights the US in Alaska ;)

There are excellent modders. For their sake, include all the original units, please...

:P

Sorry for my criticism, but a post WW2 Alaska wouldn't work with complete US naval dominance of the Pacific, and the Soviet Navy was not up for the task. Germany and Scandanvian Battles are the most possible

I agree...add them for the modders at the very least... 8)

Couldn't that be fixed if I got my hands on the original s3f files of all the original BA the units and objects as well as stripping out the animation data thats not required, or is it there something I have completely missed. :?:

It wouldn't really be possible to tweak the s3f files, they are just data. We would need to make all the MAX files available, and that is a pretty major task.

Hi Pip
I have tweaked the s3f files before as they are just text.
I don't need the Max files or textures. I just wondered if Richard had the s3f files somewhere - like in his recycle bin - as you have to have them prior them being compiled into s4f files, and some always get through in the downloads ?

I'm up for it changing them - famous last words
